pomegranate

in keeping with the "beautiful textures and colors" theme that i seem to have developed this week, i present to you THE most fabulous wallcoverings from galbraith & paul. my personal fave is the pomegranate.

we chose the indigo colorway for the powder bath pictured above for a remodel we recently completed at work and it's stunning. it's the perfect combination of traditional and modern. the texture that's noticeable when you get up close is really fantastic, it adds a whole 'nother level of interest to the pattern.

i'm envisioning the awesomeness that could with these other colorways as i type...

magic carpet

my favorite lady, leslie, over at decorative carpets, sent me a sampling of a new collection today that they currently have available in the showroom.

i die.

i love the mix of pattern and color and cannot WAIT to see these in person.

san miguel

the streets are like a grid, the buildings pushed right to the edge of each curb, and behind each doorway is something spectacular filled with history and art.

not one inch of this city lacks character and everything is pristine. it's clean and bright and lovely. i don't know if it's intentional or inherent but everything is well designed. original facades are kept in tact with modern amenities hidden behind them, even the dhl and fedex offices are disguised by entryways that have been around since the pony express. all signage looks like it was painstakingly designed by a graphic artist.

beautiful, beautiful, beautiful city.

mellow yellow

my mom is in real estate and when she came across this condo she fell in love at first sight. it was so great that she just had to have it. she bought it with a plan in mind to rent it out to those who seek refuge in the desert's searing heat and scattered swimming pools. as soon as i laid eyes on it i fell in love too.

the place is straight outta 1973 and everything that screams kitsch was included in the purchase price. dream. come. true. another dream, for me, is working with someone like my mom. she trusts my design capabilities and gave me full authority to do with this place what i chose.

i definitely wanted to keep the wall paper, most of the furniture and the overall feeling, it's relaxed and happy, but i also didn't want a guest to feel like they were intruding on gramma when they stay here. we replaced a couple key pieces and added some fresh new bedding, a coat of paint and a couple accessories to bring it in to the future.

more pics to come but if you feel the need to escape to palm springs for the weekend like the stars of yesteryears, book now, this is the place.
